Full Circle with Eddie’s Attic
You could argue that both Wild Heaven Beer and Paste Magazine don’t exist without Decatur, Georgia live music institution Eddie’s Attic. It was 1992 when Nick Purdy, one of our founders, first began visiting “Eddie’s” to get a fix of earnest, real live music by performers would would often go on to bigger stages and brighter lights. It was Eddie’s Attic that exposed Nick and co-founder Eric Johnson (an excellent musician in his own right) to Decatur and the surrounding area, which would be the future home of the Purdy family, Paste Magazine, and later, Wild Heaven Beer. The incredible sense of community, openness to new ideas and a seriously cool energy drew us in as it has so many others.
Over the years, Nick, Eric, Paste and Wild Heaven have even participated in any number of great nights at Eddie’s putting on special shows, sponsoring events, pouring beers, and in Eric’s case, performing.
Fast-forward to 2019 and Eddie’s Attic has retained it’s character as a singular destination to hear and discover great songwriters. To call the place legendary would be an understatement. So when Eddie’s boss JR Zincone asked Wild Heaven if we could create a beer together to become a house beer for the great institution, needless to say it was a no-brainer and an honor.
Hearkening to the 90s, the decade that made Eddie’s Attic a nationally-known name, Eric and JR together created ATTIC ALE, a classic, brick-red easy drinking pale ale. You’ll find it on tap at Eddie’s Attic and Wild Heaven’s Avondale taproom year-round. ATTIC ALE encompasses all the artistry of a well-crafted ale combined with the creativity of a virtuoso musician and are both equally at home in Atlanta's most intimate and renowned listening room.
